JMT Art Teacher
Hello! I am so privileged to be the Art Teacher at JMT! I have been teaching art for almost 20 years. I began my career at Penns Grove High School teaching drawing, design, stagecraft and ceramics. I taught for seven years, then spent the next 7 years raising my two daughters. When my daughters were in kindergarten and pre-school, I began painting the "forest mural" in the main hall at JMT. It took 3 and a half years to complete. When both art teachers at the time decided to retire, I was hired as the only art teacher and spent my first three years teaching at all three Mantua elementary schools.
I then spent several years teaching solely at JMT and some years at JMT and Sewell. This year I am teaching solely at JMT. I absolutely love what I do and it is so enjoyable getting to know 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in the district. My main objective is to give students the opportunity to experiment with different art media, learn about the world around them, and most of all have fun!
My 4th, 5th and 6th graders will be celebrating a variety of cultures from around the world and experimenting with a variety of art materials while practicing skills in drawing, painting, print-making and 3D creation. They will also have the opportunity to create independently when they have completed my projects.
I am looking forward to an incredible year as I continue to get to know my students and enjoy their amazing creations! Peace, Love and Happiness...always!
